An exhibition seminar on seed production was organized in Khorezm region

The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Seed Production" and relevant government resolutions assign a number of powers and tasks to the Uzagroinspection to control the production of agricultural seeds.

In order to fulfill these tasks, it has become a tradition to hold practical seminars in January every year to monitor the organization of seed preparation, processing, treatment and storage processes based on the requirements of regulatory documents.

This year, the next seminar was organized at the “Uzbek best seeds” LLC enterprise in the Khanka district of the Khorezm region, with the participation of heads of relevant organizations of the region and districts, deputies of district khokims for agricultural and water management issues, heads of seed production cluster enterprises and elite seed farms.

It was emphasized that the requirements established in the Regulation on seed preparation, approved by Resolution No. 641 of the Cabinet of Ministers, must be observed, and each responsible employee must conscientiously approach the provision of quality seed to growers.

The cotton variety placement plan for the 2025 harvest in the districts of Khorezm region is 82.7 thousand hectares, of which the Khorezm-127 variety is planned to be planted on 42.4 thousand hectares, the Khorezm-150 variety on 15.2 thousand hectares, the Mehnat variety on 8.1 thousand hectares, the Sultan variety on 254 hectares, the SP-40 variety on 160 hectares, new varieties on 2.4 thousand hectares, and foreign varieties on 14.1 thousand hectares.

Also, of the 82.7 thousand hectares of cotton fields planned to be planted in the region this year, it is planned to sow hairy seeds on 31.4 thousand hectares and hairless seeds on 51.3 thousand hectares, and it is envisaged that 3.7 thousand tons of seeds will be required for these areas.

During the demonstration seminar, the stages of seed preparation, types of preparations used, the advantages of planting de-haired seeds, and the rules for storing treated seeds were discussed.
