A SEMINAR DEDICATED TO COTTON AGROTECHNIQUE WAS HELD

Resolution No. 43 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 29, 2025 “On additional measures to apply highly effective intensive agrotechnologies in cotton growing and expand the areas of foreign cotton varieties” sets out a number of tasks.

To fulfill these tasks, a demonstration seminar was organized in the field of the "Zarbdor" farm in the Tuproqqala district of the Khorezm region with the participation of employees of the Uzagroinspection, the Ministry of Agriculture, the regional branch of the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture, the Republican Cotton Council, and more than 60 farm managers who grow foreign cotton varieties based on intensive agrotechnology.

During the event, industry experts provided detailed information on the use of mineral fertilizers based on agrochemical cartograms in the cultivation of foreign cotton varieties, the advantages of drip irrigation, the organization of "shelter" zones, and urgent agrotechnical measures in areas planted for seed production.

In particular, it was critically analyzed that in some farms, the thickness of the film was not taken into account when applying this intensive agrotechnology, the planting equipment was not properly adjusted, and the number of seedlings was not provided in some places. It was critically discussed that such negligence negatively affects the popularization of this agrotechnology, which is being introduced to create a basis for high yields in cotton growing.

It was also recommended to carry out treatments against weeds with herbicides recommended by authorized organizations and to prevent cotton from being uprooted in fields planted with a row spacing of 76 cm, to carry out treatments with growth-controlling biostimulants during the 2-3-petal, tillering and flowering periods.

The regional department and district departments of "Uzagroinspection" monitor the timely and high-quality implementation of agrotechnical measures in cotton fields in the regions throughout the season.
