GRAIN SEEDS UNDER INSPECTION CONTROL

6 May 2025 33

As in the rest of the world, in our country, in the fight against food security and in providing the domestic market with quality grain products for population consumption, the cultivation of high-yielding seed grains suitable for our local conditions also has a special place.

For this purpose, 233 seed farms in Jizzakh region are planning to grow a total of 22.6 thousand tons of seed grain from 6.4 thousand hectares of land.

Today, 1.2 thousand hectares of "Super Elite" generation, 5.0 thousand hectares of "Elita" generation and 0.2 thousand hectares of "R-1" generation seed grain are being cultivated by agricultural enterprises and farms producing seed grain, according to individual varieties.

In particular, seed grain is being grown from the following varieties of grain: "Grom", "Vassa", "Aleksevich", "Asr", "Gurt", "Vekha", "Antonino" and others.

Today, in accordance with the requirements of the Regulation approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 641 dated October 12, 2021 “On approval of certain regulatory legal acts on seed production of agricultural crops”, in order to prepare seed grain fields for the approval process, monitoring activities are being carried out to install panels on seed fields with the name of the farm, seed grain variety, generation and area, and to conduct weeding and cleaning from weeds and varieties that are difficult to separate at least twice.

During the monitoring conducted jointly with the specialists of the regional department of “Uzagroinspection” and relevant industry organizations, it was found that 506 hectares of seed grain fields were found to be unsuitable due to the failure to implement the required agrotechnical measures, and the issuance of certificates was taken under control in the appropriate manner.

In order to ensure the production of high-quality seed grain for next year's harvest in the region, district departments of the Inspectorate are issuing warning letters to the heads of 220 farms in accordance with Article 8 of the Law "On Seed Production" and Paragraph 21 of the Regulation approved by Appendix 1 to this resolution.

Head of the Department of Control over the Production of Agricultural Crop Seeds of the Jizzakh Regional Department of the Inspection O. Karshiboyev.
