TASHKENT REGION PLANS TO PRODUCE 25,700 TONS OF QUALITY SEED GRAIN FOR THE 2026 HARVEST

2 May 2025 69

As a result of the growth of the population of our country, the demand for grain products is increasing. To meet this demand and achieve high yields in cereal crops, the cultivation of high-quality seed grain is of great importance.

If the seed industry is the main driver of high yields and quality products from agricultural crops, then the most important and urgent process in seed production is the qualitative conduct of the approval test.

Approval is a field event (derived from the Latin word Approbatio, meaning approval) to determine the genetic (varietal) purity of plants, whether they are damaged by pests, whether they are infected with diseases, and the general condition of seeds intended for planting.

Therefore, in order to accumulate high-yielding seed grains for the next year's grain harvest, specialists responsible for seed grain cultivation in the areas have begun work on preparing seed grain fields for the approval test.

In Tashkent region, 159 farms, elite seed farms, and scientific research institutes are planning to produce a total of 5,700 tons of high-quality seed grain from 17 varieties of cereal crops on 8,001 hectares of seed grain fields from the 2025 harvest.

Of this, 1,018 hectares are being cultivated in “breeding nurseries”, 6,172 hectares from the “original” generation, and 751 hectares from the “elite” generation.

It should be noted that the inspectors of the territorial department of the Inspection and district departments are carrying out control measures to strictly adhere to the approval inspection of seed grain fields, to exclude from seed and declare as unsuitable areas areas with non-varietal impurities and weeds, based on the requirements of the Regulation approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 641 dated October 12, 2021 "On approval of certain regulatory legal acts on seed production of agricultural crops".

At the same time, in accordance with Article 35 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Seed Production", explanatory work is being carried out on the compliance of the responsible and accountable persons of the seed shops receiving seed grain with the requirements of the standards for the acceptance and placement of seed materials this year, and on the implementation of the approval process by members of the approval commission on the basis of established students, administrative violations are being committed in accordance with the relevant articles of the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

Based on the above, today in the region, as a result of these measures being implemented, the Department of Control over the Production of Agricultural Crop Seeds of the Inspection and district departments are determining appropriate measures and conducting control measures.
