Defoliant stock formation is under the control of the Inspectorate

7 August 2024 1094

This year, cotton is cultivated on 1 million 12 thousand 445 hectares in the republic.

One of the must-do activities in cotton care today is careful preparation for cotton defoliation and an organized season.

Premature defoliation or excessive defoliation causes forced opening of young pods, which has a negative impact on yield weight and quality. Also, delaying defoliation or reducing the defoliant rate will not give the expected result and will lead to wasted costs.

Today, 52.2 thousand hectares or 5.2 percent of cotton fields are developing in the 5-6 boll phase, 392.4 thousand hectares or 39 percent in the 7-8 boll phase, and 567.8 thousand hectares or 56 percent in the 9-10 boll phase.

Until now, cotton has been cultivated 7.4 times between the rows, foliar feeding of cotton has been completed 5.5 times, and the 3rd feeding with nitrogen mineral fertilizers has been fully completed, the 2nd irrigation of cotton is 95% and the 3rd irrigation is 54.3%. was carried out in the fields.

The creation of a reserve of defoliants, which is one of the most important and final agrotechnical activities in cotton farming, is regularly monitored by the inspectorate, and today a reserve of defoliants has been created for 407.1 thousand hectares or 47 percent of the 866.4 thousand hectares of cotton fields where defoliation is carried out.

Despite the fact that the defoliation measures are short, only 0.3% of the area in Navoi region, 15.2% in Syrdarya, 19% in Jizzakh, 28% in Tashkent, 29.6% in Samarkand, 32% in Bukhara and 43% in Ferghana have been created.

Regional administrations and district departments are giving relevant instructions to the responsible organizations in order to eliminate the identified deficiencies and to create a stock of defoliants necessary for the production of cotton crops in a short period of time, and to bring high-quality products and test them in the cotton fields based on the established procedure.
